Summer Choral Evensongs for 2019 in the Somerset countryside

Once again this summer we are pleased to welcome back a group of choirs who have sung here before to provide a series of Summer Choral Evensongs in the church of St Mary the Virgin, Orchardleigh BA11 2PH, once again we exepect musical treats and excellent worship.

The 2019 series will take place as follows:

Sunday 19th May at 6:00pm – sung by the choir of Amesbury Abbey

Sunday 16th June, Trinity Sunday, at 6:00pm – sung by the choir of Christ Church, Frome

Sunday 21st July at 6:00pm – sung by the choir of St John the Baptist, Devizes

Sunday 18th August at 6:00pm – sung by members of the parish followed by a short organ recital to celebrate the Patronal Festival at St Mary’s

Sunday 15th September at 6:00pm – sung by ‘Cantores Occasu’

The Church of St Mary dates back to the 14th century and sits on a moated island adjacent to the lake on the Orchardleigh estate and due to it’s location has no electricity and all services are illuminated by candlelight and the organ is pumped by hand!

A parish BCP Evensong normally takes place at 4:00pm when there is fifth Sunday in a month at All Saints, Lullington (BA11 2PG)
