At the church

Wheelchair access…

There is level or ramped access into the main parts of both churches from the church gates. If you need access for wheelchairs beyond the ‘chancel step’ please talk to the Weddings Administrator as portable ramps are available if we know they are needed.

Assisted hearing…

A possible ‘portable loop’ system is under trial and if successful may be implemented.

Are there toilets at either church?

Unfortunately, not yet, but we are working on it.

Lighting…

St Mary’s is always candle-lit and the verger will light the candles. Additional candles or other lighting must not be brought in either as independent items, part of the flower arrangements or by photographers / videographers.

All Saints has a good lighting system, if you require a few decorative candles (there isn’t room for more) please talk to the Weddings Administrator. Additional candles or other lighting must not be brought in either as independent items, part of the flower arrangements or by photographers / videographers.

Collections at the service…

A collection plate for an offertory is in the porch at the end of the service, it is a nice idea if a suitable charity supported by the couple can be identified and the collection split between the charity and the work of the church.

Florists…

There is a separate document for florists

Flower Girls…

If you have flower girls it is nice for them to have baskets of flower petals for the photographs but please ensure that they don’t scatter them in the churches as it can damage to floors – and be unsafe to walk on for those who have mobility issues.

Removal of floral arrangements

You need to ensure that your ushers have been briefed to collect all the floral arrangements immediately after the service so that the church is left ready for the next service, this is particularly important if there are external decorations or on the chancel screen at St Mary’s.

Photographers and Videographers…

There is a separate document for these.

What about confetti?

Just a reminder to please ONLY use biodegradable confetti (e.g. flower petals, lavender) and is only to be thrown beyond the outer gate at Orchardleigh Church and beyond the lych-gate at Lullington Church.

Leaving the church…

At St Mary’s, Orchardleigh the guests have to follow the married couple out through the south porch so please ask your photographer / videographer not to impede progress too much. At All Saints, Lullington once the couple and party have passed the north door will be opened by the verger and guests should leave through that door and walk around the outside of the church.
